This morning we played Spain who brought a strong group of girls. We lost 2-6. Despite losing, there were some moments of greatness.
Our first goal was scored by Tyera Eulberg and Kimberly Skukas during a penalty shot. We scored our second goal with a beautiful play. Ianna Debrunner made a nice knock down followed by sweet move around the first defender. She followed through to launch it past their last defender towards waiting Beth Ann Morley who finished the goal. Great work by the youngest person on our team!
These first three games were the toughest teams in our pod. We have learned some things and after a lot of video review by our skilled coaches, we have a good plan moving forward. If you are interested in getting nerdy with the standings, check out the link here.
After our game today we relaxed and celebrated Easter by going to a traditional South African Braai at Middelvlei Winery. We discovered South Africans do not eat a lot of vegetables with their meals, but there was a lot of interesting meat to try! We tried things like: Boerewors, Potbrood, Sosatie, Pampoenkoekies, and Braaibroodjies! Yum!
We are excited for the next two days to play Philippines tomorrow at 12:50 pm (7:50 am PST, 8:50 am MST, 9:50 am CST, and 10:50 am EST) and Germany on Tuesday. After those, we will be ready for the playoffs!
We apologize to anyone who was watching the video, after we went back and reviewed, the camera crew did a terrible job switching between cameras even though the water was actually pretty clear! We are as frustrated with this as you are!
